Your Title: Welcome to My Freelance Blog!

Updated: Nov 21, 2022

In this blog you will hear about my journey into becoming a Freelance writer. Where I am finding work, what I am making and the ups and downs of finding work.

Today I am setting up my website; it isn't a domain yet but with some time and hard work I am hoping to get to that point. Before we can get there however, let me tell you a bit about myself.

My name is Heather Philpot. I have been writing my whole life- well at least from the point of being about to pick up a pen and paper. Before I was able to actually write things on paper, I was acting out stories and plays at home in my bedroom. My family saying, I had an 'active imagination.' It was not a lie. In fact, it was because of that that when I picked up a book my world became full of visions of romance and fantasy. And when I learned that you could actually write things yourself? I lived for it.

However, I was very young at this point in my life (about 13), and I quickly learned that writing the picture in my head was a lot harder than I thought at first. For one thing, I was 13 and could not spell whatsoever, I had and still do have a learning disability that makes it hard to spell things correctly. So, Spell check is my friend.

The other thing that I didn't know about in those years was the dark ages of a teenage who was too old to have things done for her and too young to be an adult. Being a teenager brought its own share of problems and my only way I could get some relief from my teenage problems was writing. But I had found a way of writing that took up my life rather quickly.

Online Roleplaying.

Online Roleplaying was a beautiful thing to my young mind. I ate it up like a fat kid eats chocolate, by the handfuls. You could create a character and talk to other people who created characters and pretend to be those people! No age limit was required. Well, you had to be old enough to know how to work on the computer and form a sentence or two. That was it! Heaven!

So, from 13 to even now as I write this, I am a role-player. First it was on AOL back in the time of dial-up, and now it is on Twitter or Discord. Being a role-player have given me a chance to learn better writing skills, better spelling. Grammer and the whole bit that I couldn't learn at school. Fantasy and romance are my passions.

During all this time I was writing Muses that took me away from the land of adulthood, I got my GED, got work, had a child, and moved to where I currently live, Washington State. Through not all in that order. Now I am in my late 30's and waiting to stop working retail and restaurant jobs to barely make ends meet. I am ready to actually put my writing to the test and see what I can do and where I can go.

So, follow my journey or be a part of it!
